Brian Shields, son of dock worker and talented landscape painter - Dennis Shields was born in Liverpool in 1951, one of 12 children. Brian moved to Harrogate in the early seventies and developed a unique style of painting that continued to improve until his sad and untimely death in 1997 at the age of 46. Brian became one of the most successful artists in Britain and was described as so in many national papers. His formidable natural talent needed no tuition and he produced paintings that appeal to people in all walks of life. Brian had a unique sense of humor which was often featured in his paintings depicting himself up to mischief as a little boy dressed in a striped jumper and wellies.
